Cold storage solutions

Whether you need a single ULT freezer, a complete laboratory cold-storage setup, or additional capacity outside your facility, Ultracold helps you build the right solution around your inventory, space, temperature requirements, and access needs.

By Application

What Materials Are You Storing?

Tell us what needs to be stored, and we can narrow the solution from there. Different materials may call for different temperatures, equipment formats, and storage approaches.

Capacity Planning

On-Site vs. Off-Site Cold Storage

Your next freezer is not always the best answer. Consider the space, infrastructure, access, and duration of your storage needs before deciding where the inventory should live.

Coming 2026

Need More Cold Storage Capacity?

Our monitored cold-storage facility in Orange County opens October 2026, with expanded capacity planned for Spring 2027. Reserve capacity for overflow, laboratory moves, contingency planning, and other cold-storage requirements.

Monitored on-site ultra-low temperature cold storage facility

Process

From specification to operational storage

  1. 1

    Requirements

We start from what you are storing, including temperature, volume, access frequency, and documentation expectations, before any model is discussed.

  2. 2

    Equipment selection

We match the requirement to a specific model, capacity, format, electrical configuration, and monitoring option.

  3. 3

    Facility planning

We review circuits, clearance, delivery route, HVAC and heat rejection, and where monitoring hardware will sit.

  4. 4

    Delivery and installation

We coordinate the delivery path, place the unit with service clearance, start it up, and verify the setpoint before material is loaded.

  5. 5

    Monitoring

Probes and alarms are configured, escalation contacts are tested, and continuous logging begins on day one.

  6. 6

    Ongoing service

Service, parts sourcing, and documentation support coordinated by our Anaheim team. Scope is confirmed per unit when we quote.

Monitoring

Temperature monitoring & documentation

A sensor without an escalation path is just a data logger. We configure monitoring so an excursion reaches the named contacts you nominate, and so the record can be produced later for any date range.

  • Continuous time-stamped temperature logging
  • Alarm escalation to named contacts, tested at handoff
  • Exportable history for quality and audit review
  • Installation records kept on file

Support

Cold storage support & service

The relationship does not end at delivery. Our Anaheim team keeps equipment running and the records complete.

Delivery and installation

Route review, placement, start-up, and setpoint verification before anything is loaded.

Maintenance planning

We help plan service intervals for compressors, seals, and filters, and confirm coverage per unit when we quote.

Repairs and parts

Repair coordination and parts sourcing. Send the make and model and we will confirm what we can support.

Documentation

Temperature history, alarm logs, and installation records on request.

Monitoring

Continuous temperature logging with alarm escalation to the contacts you nominate.

Contingency planning

FAQ

Cold storage FAQs

What is cold chain storage?+

Cold chain storage is the practice of keeping temperature-sensitive materials within a defined temperature range from receipt through storage and use. For laboratories and biorepositories, that typically means coordinated equipment across −86°C ULT, −20°C to −30°C freezer, and +2°C to +8°C refrigeration ranges, with monitoring that documents conditions continuously.

What temperature ranges do you support?+

We supply and service equipment covering −150°C to +8°C: −150°C cryogenic-range units, −86°C ULT freezers, −60°C to −40°C low-temperature freezers, −30°C to −20°C laboratory freezers, and +2°C to +8°C laboratory, pharmacy, and blood-bank refrigeration.

Should I buy another freezer or use off-site storage?+

It depends on access frequency, available electrical service, room clearance, HVAC capacity, and whether the need is permanent or temporary. On-site equipment is available today. Our monitored off-site facility in Orange County is scheduled to open in October 2026 and is taking reservations now, so we review both paths and quote what fits your timeline.

Can you build a cold chain for a new facility?+

Yes. We help plan the temperature ranges, capacities, and formats your materials require, review electrical and HVAC constraints, install the equipment, and configure monitoring so conditions are documented from day one.

Do you service equipment you did not sell?+

In many cases, yes. Send us the make, model, and location and we will confirm what service, parts, and monitoring support we can provide for that unit.

Do you work with institutional procurement?+

Yes. We support university, hospital, government, and grant-funded purchasing, and we hold SAM registration, a CAGE code, and California DGS and CSLB credentials for public procurement.
